You're (probably) paying too much to keep it online
// The Nerdy Part

What We Do

Step - 01

Cut the Bloat

Why is WordPress hosting so expensive? Builders are fantastic tools, but they create VERY inneficient code under the hood. That dead weight adds hosting cost, slows your site and kills your google ranking. We trim the fat.

Step - 02

Clever Redirect

We leave your website and original code completely unharmed in its original location. We then recreate your website from the ground up on our own servers using leaner, "static" code. This can reduce the size of your active site by 90% or more and elimates the need to pay for SSL / TSL certification.

90% typical file size reduction.
Step - 03

Improve security

Website builders use 3rd party plugins which make them vulnerable to attacks. Users either accept the risk or pay extra for security add-ons that only half work.

By switching to static hosting you completely sever the attack line: the site runs in a 100% secure environment, just like a regular website.

FasterSaferBetter Rankings
Step - 04

Make the Switch

Now you only pay the small amount needed to cover our lean servers instead of your old hosting / security etc, slashing your fees by an estimated 50-70%. Don't worry if you were halfway through a billing cycle - we'll give you whatever time was left on your prior package as free gratuity.

If for whatever reason you're not happy, we'll refund you fully within 28 days, no questions asked. If you ever want to leave and go back to your original setup, you can do so instantly - just change where your domain points (we can help you if needed). You are never tied in.

50%-70% typical saving, and no fee.

Frequently Asked
Questions

(click each item for detailed answers)
Q-01
Are there any downsides?
Short answer: A couple, but they probably don't apply to you.

A couple, and whilst they don’t apply in most cases, you do need to be aware, because static migration is not for everybody.

The first is that updating your site now has an extra step: changes you make in your builder won’t automatically be reflected live - you’ll have to let us know to update our servers first. We will do this free a couple of times a year, but if you regularly update your website more than this, we might have to negotiate a small increase to your bill for the added work on our end. Many of our customers build their site a long time ago and only touch it occasionally, and they are the perfect fit for what we do.

The second is that static hosting cannot handle dynamic backend systems such as payments, calendar based booking systems or login profiles for your visitors. Simple email based systems such as contact forms are fine. Payments handled externally on other platforms are also fine.

For the majority of people these restrictions won’t matter and we will always be upfront during consultation if we think our product is not for you (and if you think you have been missold we will refund you and reverse the changes, no questions asked).

Q-02
Will my website be changed or altered in any way?

Short answer: No.

No. Your website is your baby, and you probably spent a lot of hours putting work into it, we understand and respect this. The clever thing about static rehosting is that it has zero impact. Your original build will be standing by, ready to switch back to any time if you leave us.

We will never make changes to your website without being asked (though tbh really you should ask us - we are awesome web designers and specialise in polishing "another wordpress website" into "professional-grade web presence that stands out".)

Q-03
Are there any security risks?
Short answer: No, quite the opposite.

No. In fact, static hosting is much safer than naked Wordpress.

Wordpress and other builders use plugins, which are a huge hacking vulnerability that you cannot control. Instead of fixing the issue platforms often try to upsell you security packages to fix a problem of their own creation.

risks from us go, we may require limited admin access to your website and your domain at two short and specific points in the process, after which you lock us out again. Admin access never grants us access to sensitive areas such as billing or personal information. This is the surface level of access routinely required when a design agency works on a client's website, and may notload be needed in many cases.

Q-04
Is your service only for wordpress users?
Short answer: No.

Not at all. Whilst people who use builders such as Wordpress make up the bulk of our customers, by rehosting you our way we can usually bag you a decent saving as well as security, speed and seo ranking improvements regardless of how your site was initially made.

Whichever way you built your site the only thing we can't reproduce is any asset that you yourself don't own the rights to, for example a copyrighted picture you do not have permission for.

Q-05
Will my website really load faster?
Short answer: Almost definitely.

Almost definitely, because we are bypassing all the unnecessary junk your builder was loading, such as massive plugins that aren’t even active on your site. Every time you move or change something in your builder, code is being written behind the scenes. Over time this can add up to a collosal ammount of dead code.

How much we speed things up varies by case, but increases of 5x to 10x are not uncommon, sometimes higher. We recently took the load time of juicesoundsystem.co.uk down from over 7 seconds to under a second. Not only does this make things much more user friendly for your visitors, it often boosts your SEO ranking too.

Q-06
If P4L replicate my site do I still own it? Can it be stolen?

Short answer: Yes, you still own it, no it can't be stolen.

You remain the sole owner of all of your work at every stage in the process, including our temporary copy. The only people who have access to the rebuild that we make are us whilst you are with us, and we delete it if you go. Further information is available in our terms and conditions.

Q-07
How does static cloning improve my Google search rankings?
Short answer: Cleaner code means better rankings.

Whilst results are not guaranteed, static clones typically outperform builder websites by a significant margin in search engine rankings. There are two reasons for this: speed and complexity.

Sites made in builders such as wordpress have notoriously poor SEO rankings because they are slow to load and complex to read (both of which Google punish heavily). By cleaning your code of junk we give you a far better chance of jumpng up the rankings.

Q-08
Are there any hidden costs? How much will I save / pay?
Short answer: No and it depends.

There are no hidden costs: our business model relies on saving you money. Setup is completely free - we just take over your ongoing hosting at an agreed rate, and we gift any remaining time left from your prior deal on top.

The exact price of your ongoing quote is determined by several factors including the size and complexity of your website, and how frequently you intend to update it. It will almost always be significantly less than you are currently paying. The one and only potential extra charge is if you start updating your site far more frequently than was initially agreed upon, in which case we may need to renegotiate. This will be thoroughly explained during your initial consultation.

Q-09
Can I cancel at any time or get a refund if I'm not satisfied?
Short answer: Instantly, there's no lock in as you have all the control.

Absolutely. If you are not satisfied on delivery, let us know within 28 days and we will refund you free of charge and put everything back how it was, no questions asked.

Regarding cancelation, there is none needed because you have the power to leave any time at the touch of a button: just point your domain back at your own hosting loction instead of our clone (we are happy to help with this if needed) and don't make any further payments to us. The one thing you should do is just shoot us a quick message to let us know you've gone so we can safely delete your data from our servers.

Our clients stay because our rates beat the big providers, not because they are trapped in

Q-10
Can I use your service in my country / currency?
Short answer: Absolutely.

Of course. We quote in USD for convenience but we are actually a small operation based between the UK (my home country) and Japan (my wife's home country), with clients all over the globe.

Payments can be made via any currency accepted by PayPal or Wise, or directly into our UK or Japanese account.

If you want us to quote prices in a specific currency, please let us know in the comments field when you submit your inquiry.

Q-11
Do you offer any other services to improve my website?
Short answer: Yes (and we're good).

We certainly do.

In addition to hacking hosting costs, we can also design (the site you're on now was made by us) as well as helping with performance, search engine ranking and the overall quality of your website.

Head on over to our web design homepage to see examples of our work for past clients.

If you'd like us to take a look at your site and identify areas where it could be improved, just mention it when you get in touch or at any later time.

Q-12
This seems too good to be true - so why isn’t everyone doing it?

Short answer: High skill barrier, low profit margin.

The honest answer is a lack of awareness on the client side and a lack of incentive on the host side. Many people simply don't know that static hosting is an option, and neither hosting providers nor builder platforms have much incentive to lower your bill or point out the flaws in your existing arrangement.

Furthermore, whilst switching couldn't be easier for you as our client, it does require a particular combination of technical skills on our side. Since there's more profit and less work involved in overcharging clients rather than helping them downsize, most people who can do this simply aren't interested in it. We've built a niche filling that gap: providing a genuine value proposition to our customers with an honest product we believe in passionately.

Case Study

Customer Experience / Static Migration
Tell us about your website
I use wordpress to advertise my DJ Business. Due to time constraints I only manage to update now and then, but it's usually the first place people land when they're checking out my services so it's important for adding legitimacy to my brand.
How much were you paying before?
I actually had quite a large amount of webspace as at one point I was hosting another of my own and also a friend's website. Alongside TSL certification and the pricey web security package I was signed up for, my costs were running at over $400: Clearly i was paying too much for hosting my website.

$400 a year before switching.
How much did you save by switching?
By paying them for a few years in advance, PressForLess we able to cut my bill by around 70%, which was an absolute no brainer, especially as I now have them on call watching over the website in case it ever goes down or I need any help with design.

$120 a year after switching.
How much time / effort was involved?
I handed over my admin logins to Wordpress and my DNS and the job was handled effortlessly for me. It couldn't have been easier. I think the whole process was completed by dinner the next day. During that time there were no breaks in service or alterations to my live website.
48hrs contract to completion.
What changed after the switch?
I understood that an expert could find ways to decrease hosting costs, but I was surprised how much faster the site became - I have a heavy HD video on the landing page which used to drag, now it loads in a snap. I was also surprised to learn that mirroring the site blocks well-known Wordpress vulnerabilities, which is added peace of mind.

0.812 seconds loading time.
Would you reccomend P4L to others?

In a heartbeat. They have saved me hundreds in costs this year alone and we're now looking at a range of visual and functional upgrades to boost my brand presence too. Delegating to them has not only saved money but has also allowed me to focus my efforts on the tasks I actually excel at, which is a godsend.

// The Process

What You Do

From first reaching out to us to bagging your saving typically takes 3-5 days, and requires minimal effort on your side.

01

Let's Talk

Reach out via the contact form below, we'll get back with a quote or any clarifying questions that may be needed.

02
*not always required

Code Access *

In many cases once we've agreed your quote we can simply get straight to work. Occasionally we need to check the site's source code. For WordPress users this just means making us a temporary admin account, which takes about 5 minutes. You can revoke our access immediately after and your site remains active and untouched.

03

Sit tight

Sit tight whilst we work our magic behind the scenes. This typically takes 1-3 working days.

04

Domain Access

We need to point your domain (the place where you bought your website name) to the new proxy server we built for you. Again, with most companies this is as simple as making us a temporary admin account and takes about 5 minutes. Once we are done you instantly revoke our access. Or, if you prefer, we can walk you through doing it yourself.

05

Payment and Switchover

As soon as we confirm everything is working you can buy your future hosting at our cheaper rate (plus you still get the remaining time on your old plan for free). When payment is received we flip the switch and you can safely cancel your old plan (we can help with this if needed). That's all there is to it, now enjoy better service at a fraction of the cost moving forwards.
